You can only extend its lifespan by careful usage, but cannot stop its value from depreciating. Reason can be an advancement in software and some compatibility issues.

When it comes to complete failure of the hard drive, then excessive heat, electronic failure, mechanical failure, corrupted files, or human errors are some of the main reasons. Its failure can bring the whole system to a halt making the essential information inaccessible. It is the reason that taking backups time to time is crucial. Don’t consider this as a wastage of time, as it prevents you from future headaches.

The following are symptoms of hard drive failure that you should not overlook:

  1. The system taking a long time to boot –

It generally happens due to hardware failure. Execute system diagnostic and save all the data in an external drive.

Possible reasons for this sign can be a virus attack or file system corruption. At this time, you should scan your system and take the back-up of the protected data instantaneously.

  1. Frequent system crashes –

Bad sectors on the hard drive or memory overheating can be the reasons behind the crash. In the case of bad sectors run hard drive diagnostic.

It clearly indicates that something fishy had happened. Generally, it happens because of hardware and software issues. You can use windows operating system repair tool, but before that take the backup of essential data on another hard drive.

It symbolizes that the file system has corrupted. Don’t take it lightly, be on your safe side, and keep a copy of data on a new hard drive.
